Break out from the pack...as a Golden Lake™ manager. Do you have the spirit of an manager? Do you believe that hard work is its own reward? Are you motivated to be the best you can be? We believe the Golden Lake™ opportunity is an ideal one if you answered ''yes" to the above. The Golden Lake™ program addresses a niche market in a way that traditional kennels can't. If you are looking for an opportunity in the pet care industry, this offers a track record, appeal and flexibility. As a Golden Lake Manager, you enjoy the benefits of feeling like you are running your own business, but with the "value added" series of advantages that help you avoid the costly trial and error associated with start up operations. Name brand recognition, a network of support, and a methodical, well-designed plan for doing business are among the benefits of Golden Lake. Enjoy the advantages of "hitting the ground running." Enjoy independence without the headaches of going it alone. We give dogs really neat "digs" If you are an animal lover, you will be intrigued with the concept of a "doggie camp" and maybe appreciate the opportunity it offers, as a Golden Lake™ Recreational Pet Camp manager. Some have termed our Golden Lake™ facility the "Cadillac of Boarding Facilities." We're flattered, but frankly, we consider ourselves in a different league. Kennels board dogs. We provide them with a recreational camp - a setting where pets are our guests, and they come first (even before humans!) Oh, and we've been known to pamper them, The Golden Lake™ facility has drawn rave reviews from pet owners far and wide, and we believe this is a concept that should be shared - it's the right way to treat animals when they're away from home. We're ready to share the strategy with those who share our vision, and those who seek a unique, fun business opportunity! The Golden Lake™ philosophy is to provide an environment where dogs (and cats!) can be boarded without enduring the traditional side effects of kennels. We believe that pets should have deluxe accommodations when away from their owners, and the Golden Lake™ facility accomplishes that. But it's a lot more than "creature comforts." It's about the right treatment of pets.
We provide an environment that pets will enjoy - and that will make their owners feel good about leaving them in our care. It is this concept that defines this Golden Lake™ opportunity. |

Like our guests, we’re into establishing our territory. And, we're very protective of our pack. Pet care is big business and getting bigger. Consider that there are more than 117 million pets in the United States alone - with 60 million households having one or more pets. Put in perspective, only half as many households —30 million -- house personal computers. Even cable television, which claims a market share of 55 million households, isn't in as many households. These 60 million pet owners spend $20 billion annually on pet-related products and services, Compare that to home health care ($15 billion), PC software ($9 billion) and sporting goods ($21 billion), and it's easy to see that pets figure prominently in the American economy. The average dog owner spends $3,500 per year on a dog The pet-boarding industry is a $2.5 billion annual business at current boarding rates of $8.99 per day average, with 15 million pet owners using a facility at least once a year. More than 14,000 facilities in this country house some 29 million pets at one time or another. That's a large territory, one with ample opportunity for a new approach to pet boarding and pet care. That's the basis for the Golden Lake™ concept.

From "pet peeve" to "pet project.” Robin Lauver, Golden Lake™ Recreational Pet Camp founder, loves dogs. Ever since he can remember, he has always had at least one pet. From age 10, he wanted to care for animals and knew he would eventually work in the animal boarding industry. With a heart as big as the acreage he lives on, he was able to provide a caring home for large numbers of dogs - as many as 16 at a time. His penchant for pets posed a difficult problem for him when he wanted to go away on vacation for a few days. Few traditional kennels were equipped with the staff and the philosophy to accommodate his "pack." Board them? Maybe, although it was rare that any single kennel would have 16 vacancies. Exercise for them? Not likely. Provide special food or companionship? Again, not a standard practice. In fact, a check of 27 kennels within driving distance of his Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania home all pointed to the same predicament - that they could not or would not accommodate his pets' needs. Robin wanted more than a traditional kennel. He wanted a place that would not only board his animals in clean and comfortable surroundings and pay attention to their dietary needs, but importantly, provide exercise and companionship for "man's best friends." |

Boarding shouldn't be boring. Most traditional boarding places, he found, were simply that - boarding places - a place to drop off a dog for two or three days and then pick him up again, and he subjected to a host of negative effects, including lethargy, loss of appetite and constant barking. Robin sought a warm, homelike atmosphere for his dogs and couldn't find a facility that met his needs. That was how the Golden Lake™ Recreational Pet Camp project got its start.

A unique approach in a changing industry. Robin worked as a contractor and home remodeler in the 1980's when he began turning his Golden Lake™ dream into reality. He took the proceeds from the house he constructed and began putting it into his "pet project" - a facility unlike anything else that he had ever encountered. He found a 25-acre site and constructed a 20,000 square foot facility. The camp includes bunkhouses for individual pets - "all different sizes " and floors that are constructed with 1/2" thick rubber, which is not cold or damp like concrete floors in a traditional boarding facility. Large and accommodating as the facility is, its real strength lies in its philosophy of providing superior treatment and care for its guests. Robin says it very matter-of-factly. "If you wouldn't walk into a facility and sleep there yourself, you shouldn't put your animal there."

Our unique concept not only has tails wagging, but tongues wagging too! The Golden Lake™ model is a combination of respect and love for animals, innovative thinking, non-traditional facilities, a commitment to service and an entrepreneurial spirit. It's a new way - we believe a better way - to approach the pet boarding industry. |

Giving man’s (and woman’s) best friend the best possible home away from home. As a Golden Lake™ manager, you will benefit from the experience of the Lauver family, who has shown that building a business with a commitment to excellence pays off. Our Golden Lake™ operation houses up to 50 dogs and 16 cats, with 2 large under roof yards during inclement weather and 2 large open air exercise yard for pets during the beautiful days of the seasons. The building is constructed in a camp-like atmosphere with a knotty pine interior with air conditioning requirements in the summer and heating facilities in the winter. Anyone who sees a Golden Lake™ facility remarks that it "doesn't look like a kennel," it's not. Our belief is that the place where pet owners board their pets should be good enough so the owners will sleep there, too.
